FO Friday - 5/29/2015
I'm not quite finished with my Loopy Academy Extra Credit project; so, I won't show that one today.
I did do a quick scarf, in between all the deadline knitting.
Pattern: Gallatin Scarf by Kris Basta
Yarn: Madelinetosh DK Twist in Seaglass
Thoughts: I used the skein leftover from the 8 Days a Week sweater I made recently. I do love Madelinetosh yarns and I enjoyed knitting this pattern. It's a win-win.
The little striped cardi is all done.
Pattern: Little Coffee Bean Cardigan by Elizabeth Smith
Yarn: Cascade Sierra in pink, green and sharp green
Thoughts: I like this yarn. It's a wool-cotton blend and again - using up leftovers. I have enough of the darker green left to make a hat to go with this ensemble. Maybe I will...
MK out.

Camp Loopy Sneak Peak
I am finishing up the extra credit project for Loopy Academy:
I feel confident that I will have it ready to post a picture on The Loopy Ewe website before the end of the month...Sunday.
Then, it's off to Camp Loopy. This year, we are going on a safari. For June, we are to make something between 6/1 and 6/30 that represents something we would "spy" on our safari.
Since I love pink flamingoes and I've had the Baah! Yarns La Jolla in Flamingo Pink on my Loopy Ewe wish list for the longest - I'm going to make a shawl out of that yarn.
This year, I will be doing the fabric challenge too.
I'm looking forward to spying an African beach.
I thought these colors represented the picture well, don't you? The gold fabric also represents a lion I may spy lounging near the water. I am planning on making a table runner for my beachy kitchen table. We have to incorporate a traditional quilt block in the design. I'm thinking pinwheels, but that can change.
Won't you join me on our Camp Loopy safari this summer?

OMG! Another week with FOs!
The slippers all felted and embellished! They are my felting assignment for Loopy Academy.

Pattern: French Press Slippers by Melynda Bernardi
Yarn: Cascade 220 in Christmas Red
Thoughts: They were a fun knit.
I would show y'all the little, striped cardi too if I had finished sewing on the buttons. To thank you for indulging my crazy schedule, I can show you some sewing to tide you over.
First, the two sets of purple pillowcases are done:
You should check out the fabric at The Loopy Ewe. It might inspire you to make fun stuff, like I did.
I also finished the little dress:
I made it to go with this sweater I made last year:
And now, they've been gifted.

WIP Wednesday - 5/20/2015
Today, I am working on finishing this little, striped cardi. It just needs the buttons and it will be done!
I am sewing a grosgrain ribbon on the button side, just as The Knitmore Girls have taught me.
I also worked on my toy sewing machine.
It can once again sew a nice seam. The top seam wasn't so nice, but that's before I worked on the machine.

FO Friday - 5/15/2015
I am getting closer and closer to completing my Loopy Academy projects for this semester:
Not really an FO yet, but I have big news...I threw the slippers and some very hot water into the Wonder Washer today.
After one 15 minute cycle, there still was too much stitch definition and they were still too long for my feet.
After the second 15 minute cycle, they were just right! Now, they just have to dry.
The striped assignment is finished!
Pattern: Stripes, Stripes & Stripes Scarf by Sybil R
Yarn: The Loopy Ewe Solid Series in Fuschia and Tangerine
Thoughts: I really liked this pattern and I can see myself making it again.
In non Loopy Academy news, I made something last month and never took the time to show y'all.
Pattern: Downton Cowl by Christy Becker
Yarn: Mrs. Crosby Hat Box in Summer Blooms. It was my reward for completing Camp Loopy Last summer.
Thoughts: This yarn is awesome. I loved knitting with it. It's a merino, cashmere and silk blend...lovely. The pattern was a fun, quick knit too.
The mottled-color ways are not my favorite.
I call them color vomit. The pattern and colorway played well together; so, I am not complaining.
In sewing news, I finished two sets of pillowcases.
I would have more to show you, but lack of housekeeping has reached critical mass at Chez Merry Karma; so, I had chores to do besides knitting and sewing...

WIP Wednesday - 5/13/2015
Update on 2015 Loopy Academy Semester 2:
I need to get off my arse and felt those slippers already!!! Being out of town really messed up a good rhythm I had going, but maybe today will be the day...
I am more than halfway done with my striped assignment v.2.
I still want to make Penny Candy Tee, but I guess I have to wait for my head to get into it. I don't like making bottom up sweaters much, because things like swatching and blocking become more important, and Momma don't like to swatch or block...
I've cast on for the extra credit project, but it has been put aside until the scarf is finished.
Update on little striped cardi:
It needs buttons and the ends woven in.
Update on sewing projects:
Can you believe that this sausage roll...
...will turn into a pillowcase with totally finished seams? I love it!!!
I've been having fun making these pillowcases.
I just have to hem this little cutie and apply the snaps and it will be done!

And She Sews...
I've been out of town for about ten days and re-entry has been challenging. The house is a mess, the washing machine and dryer are both going - and there's more wash sorted in piles on the floor. I need to go to the store, but today is a good day to do a little sewing.
The fabric in the top left will become pillowcases for the master. The floral fabric on the right will become a little dress for the niece on the way. The camo fabric will be used to make burp pads for a friend who is expecting.
Oh look! The burp pads are done!
I even embroidered As on them.
They aren't perfect by any means. I don't have an embroidery machine; so, I winged it. I was going to write the whole name on each pad, but I am very out of practice doing the curvy letters (as you can see).
My latest Box of Fun from The Loopy Ewe made it to the house tonight.
