Start Something Sunday - 4/26/2020

I started a Featherweight Cardigan.

I think it's just the thing for dining in a restaurant when the AC is blasting on subzero. I'll be ready when they open restaurants again, if that ever happens.

FO Friday - 4/24/2020

Goodness! I have another finished object to share.

Pattern: 159-4 Call It Spring by DROPS design
Yarn: ONline Linie 11 Alpha in white
Comments: This top was a quick knit. I didn't make any modifications. I swatched with three different needle sizes, blocked the swatch and selected the US 5 needle, as it achieved the pattern gauge. I'm so happy to have another top to wear for the coming warm weather.

The skirt I'm going to make to wear with the turquoise top from last week will work with this top too. Actually, I have fabric for three skirts that will work with both tops. I guess that means I must get busy sewing.

Movie Monday - 4/20/2020

I snuck a movie into my binge/catch-up-on-series-I've-been-meaning-to-watch-watching.

Ash is Purest White, in Chinese with English subtitles, is loosely based on a gang leader that the film maker once admired. Bin, the mob leader in a poor mining city, and his girlfriend Qiao, live a charmed life until rival gang members try to snuff him out. Qiao saves his life by shooting two warning shots in the air. She goes to jail for possession of an illegal firearm. When she gets out, Bin has moved on. Qiao tracks him down. It was good.

Yarn:  Hikoo by Skacel CoBaSi DK in Deep Turquoise
Comments: I enjoyed knitting this pattern. The yarn is very nice and I love this color. I have some fabric to make a couple of skirts that might look pretty cute with this top.

I might knit this one again.

A Quarantine Tale

I hope everyone, is hanging in there. I'm doing okay over here, just trying to adjust to life's changes.

I have not been grocery shopping for over a week and it was time. I haven't done curbside pickup yet, because I haven't been able to work out the timing. I tried a few times, but the dates for pickup were a week or so out, and I needed my stuff this week, not next.

I did recently sign up for Imperfect Foods, and got my first box today. Google it and read all about it. It's a cool thing, and I'm happy with what came in my box. Sorry, I forgot to take a picture. I'll try to next time.

While waiting for my box, I had to go shopping for things that they don't sell. Eastern Orthodox Easter is this Sunday, and one of my Greek friends told me about lamb rib racks at Costco. I also needed usual food and grocery items that Costco doesn't sell in normal household quantities; so, I planned on a stop at the Super Target right next door. I had to return some vitamins and exchange for the right ones at Walmart; so, to say that I had a full morning is an understatement. Since I'm a WOACA, I was able to go early. I chose to be happy about that because I've been trying to stay positive and find joy daily.

So, I went to Costco. I did see three 24-roll packages of toilet paper just past the door, but I didn't need any so, I walked on by.  I grabbed my lamb racks and took off for Target. I am happy to report that I saw name brand and generic toilet paper there, as well as tons of paper towels and other paper products. I found a few of the items on my list, paid and headed to Walmart. On the way, I saw Trader Joe's and remembered that we are almost out

of The Husb's favorite almonds; so, I stopped. Grabbed the almonds and a few other things from my list and got back on the road.

I got to Walmart and found the rest of the items on my list. I did forget to bring the wrong vitamins in to exchange, and made the executive decision to take care of that little job next time.

In all the places I visited today, none had hand soap, hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes, Lysol spray or Lysol all purpose cleaner. I did find a small bottle of Clorox at Walmart; so, there's that.

I also saw this sight at Walmart:

There hasn't been toilet paper long enough to spend time on the shelves at Walmart for three weeks! The neighbors have kept me informed.

And here are the goodies that took two and a half hours to procure today:

Movie Monday - 4/6/2020

I'm still staying home and binge watching The Crown, but I have watched one movie that's been out quite a while.

Kiera Knightly stars as the title character in Colette. She's a country girl who marries a big city boy...more of a playboy. His name is Willy and it's a bit apropos. He has trouble financing his high lifestyle, despite the pool of ghostwriters he keeps to maintain his literary career. It becomes evident that Colette is a better writer than anyone Willy employs, and he has no qualms about taking advantage of her talent. At first, Colette willingly helps, as it bring money into the household. Soon, tensions erupt and the wrongness-for-each-other bubbles to the surface. Things start going down paths I wasn't really expecting. It was alright.

That's the only movie I've seen in the last week. I still have more shows to binge watch.

FO Friday - 4/3/2020

How is everyone out there? I'm staying home even though the governor has put forth all sorts of bans that all but state "Stay home!" I've had aspirations to clean out all the closets and iron all the clothes and knit all the yarn. Instead, I've binged Tiger King and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. (I'm going to finish The Crown next.) And, I have been knitting some of the yarn.

Pattern:  Anaashah by Jennifer Steingass
Yarn:  Ístex Kambgarn in Sandshell and a turquoise
Comments: I bought this yarn on our trip to Iceland; so, I wanted to make something special with it. I enjoyed knitting this pattern. I'm happy with how it looks. I think I need to shorten the sleeves a little, but otherwise, I'm good. It's got enough positive ease that I can wear a shirt underneath, but not so much that it looks too big if I don't. I'm a happy girl.

I've already almost finished another top, but I ran out of yarn. I've ordered more already. Luckily, my LYS had some in the same dye lot. Yay!

Everyone #stayhome to #staysafe.
