Since we at Chez Merry Karma are currently undergoing The World's Longest Move Ever, the whole project is a work-in-progress. It will continue to be a WIP for the foreseeable future...
Yesterday, I unpacked the knives I brought over from the former house. I've had these knives for a long time, and the wooden handles looked sad. I remembered a product called Wood Beams that I purchased from Goodies Unlimited at DFW Fiber Fest and I thought I would give it a try.
Here are the knives before: (I had already applied the product on the bread knife in the lower left of the picture.)
Notice the sharpener - it looks better than the knives because it doesn't get washed as often as they do. I do wash my good knives by hand - but this method is just as dehydrating to the wooden handles as the dishwasher would be...it just takes longer.
I wasn't expecting the handles to return to their original color, but they do look nicer:
The handles and knives do look better! We've had our set forever! They get sharpened once in a blue moon...
