Greetings, gang! I watched a couple of movies in the last week that are fairly recent.
In The Room Next Door, a woman learns that a friend, with whom she had worked years ago, has stage four cancer. The two reconnect, and she learned that her friend wants to die by suicide. Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton star as the friends. John Turturro and Alessandro Nicola also star. It was good.
Tilda Swinton also stars with Julio Torres in Problemista. Torres wrote, directed, and produced the film, as well. He plays a young man who wants to design toys for Hasbro. That doesn’t work out. Because of his immigration status, he eventually is hired by a woman who promises to sponsor him only after they organize an exhibition of her late husband’s work. There’s more to the story, but I’ll leave it at that. It was confusing at times, but I’ve been under the weather and the meds may have contributed to that. All in all, it was quirky and funny – at least in spots.
