Listen Up Philip, starring Jason Schwartzman, Elisabeth Moss and Jonathan Pryce is a comedy about an author whose second novel is about to come out. In all his self-absorbed glory, he creates quite a bit of drama and chaos in his life - including bitching out a former lover and other friend of his for their supposed lack of support for him and his art. His narcissism also causes trouble in his present relationship. It had some funny parts, but the movie wasn't all that enjoyable for me to watch, as I have enough people like that in my real life and frankly, I am over them.
Helen Mirren and Ryan Reynolds star in The Woman in Gold. The film is set in the late 1990s and is based on a true story. Maria Altmann enlisted the help of her friend's attorney son to reclaim original paintings that were stolen from her family's home in Austria by the Nazis. It was very good.

Start Something Sunday - A Case of Knitting ADD
I haven't felted the slippers yet, but I have put them together.
The strap across the toe will be sewn on after the felting. Can you believe these boats will turn into cute (I hope) slippers?
I've been pondering my third project for Loopy Academy - knitting with stripes. I've been thinking about making Penny Candy Tee. It is knit bottom up, but I prefer top down, plus I need to work out some measurements. I just can't seem to strike the match - beyond knitting the I-cord edging.
In the meantime, I've found another interesting striped pattern that may have to become my homework assignment - The Stripes, Stripes & Stripes Scarf.
All of this pondering and planning and other work didn't stop me from starting another project tonight:
It's the Little Coffee Bean Cardigan. I'm using leftovers.

WIP Wednesday - 4/15/2015
I have finished all the knitting for my second project for this semester at Loopy Academy:
I'm making French Press Slippers:
I will assemble the slippers and then I will felt them. Since my new washer is of the high efficiency variety, it isn't as easy to manipulate the cycle as my former machine. I didn't want the item to have to go through the entire wash cycle however many times it would take to felt. Each cycle lasts about 45 minutes! I was bummed until a Loopy Groupie pointed me in this direction:
It's the Wonder Washer and it sits on the counter.
Stay tuned.

Movie Monday - 4/6/2015
Where Do We Go Now? is set in a Lebanese village, where Christians and Muslims had been coexisting respectfully for years. Sectarian strife nearby threatens to upset the balance of the little village. It's up to the women to try to keep it all together in this charming dramedy. It has many humorous moments, but there's a deep and important message. I really liked it.

FO Friday - 4/3/2015
Several years ago, I bought an Absolutely Fabulous Throw kit in the amethyst colorway from The Woolie Ewe. It marinated in my stash until last year. In January, I decided the time was right and I started it. After about 12 rows, other projects jumped the line in front of it; so, it went into hibernation.
This January, if you remember, I pulled it out while assessing the state of the WIPs and it still looked the same as last January. (Imagine.)
In March, we set out on a ski trip and I decided it should come along. Now, it is finished.
It looks perfect in the master.
Happy Half-Birthday to me!
