I haven't participated on Ten on Tuesday in the longest... This week, Carole asks us to list Ten Foods That Belong Together: 1. Steak and potatoes - what man (or woman) doesn't like that? 2. Peanut butter and jelly (or honey or bananas or honey and bananas!) - a mainstay in a toddler's diet, but I frequently made myself a sandwich of one of those combinations in the physician dining room. I think more than one of the docs would've secretly liked to have had one too... 3. Grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup - my mom and I frequently made it for supper when The Husb wasn't going to be joining us. 4. Chips and salsa - I'd have just that for supper sometimes back when I was a bachelorette living the high life on my own. 5. Bacon and eggs - a good way to start the day...although I only eat breakfast when we are traveling anymore... 6. Turkey and dressing - because it's tradition! Plus, it's yummy together. 7. Pork and applesauce - The Husb will not eat pork without applesauce...he just won't. 8. Corned beef and cabbage - another favorite around here. 9. Fritos and Dr. Pepper - one of my favorite snacks...but I don't have it too often...you know, fat grams, carbs, calories...they sure put a cramp in my style! 10. Cookies and milk - it's what's for dessert. Now I really have the munchies!!! MK out.
I wanted to watch The Debt because Helen Mirren, Jessica Chastain and Tom Wilkinson performed in it. They did not disappoint. They portrayed three former Mossad agents who were celebrated for killing Deter Vogel (aka "The Surgeon of Birkenau"), a Nazi war criminal. At least, that's what they told everyone after he escaped from their grasps many years before. Now, they hear that he is still alive and they have a clue of his whereabouts. While the acting was good, the film was at least something to watch after you've seen everything else playing in town. MK out.
It's a rainy Sunday...a perfect day for knitting. I've been working on the Gaia cardigan and the Issey scarf. Both require a little attention and that's fine, but sometimes - a girl needs a project that is meditative, yet not mentally taxing. I know I said that I want to finish the Gaia cardi to get to start a sweater in the Seaglass on Madelinetosh DK Twist... ...but Yaw-all... ...I haven't started my April socks yet... I found another stripey:
I can make a plain, vanilla sock - not much thought required. I can finish them quickly - I can work on them when I need a break from the other projects. Plus, it's stash busting. I'm off to wind some yarn. MK out.
It's been OTN for a year...for realz. I figured I should finish it since I just bought yarn to make two sweaters. My reward for finishing it is starting one of the sweaters when I do. I started Issey on huge first day of Fiber Fest.
I had to start over a few times. The first time was because I didn't see the iconic words "work in pleating pattern" while I was setting up and creating the sharp tip of the scarf. I was working in plain, old one-by-one ribbing. The other couple of times, I had to start over because I was watching tee vee and trying to follow the chart at the same time. The repeat isn't that hard, but when you have to work to the wrapped stitch, knit the wrapped stitch, work two more stitches in pattern and wrap and turn again - well, it requires a teeny bit of concentration. Just enough...and I obviously wasn't paying attention. The yarn is the yummy Happiness on Madelinetosh Pashmina Sport. I picked it up at Happy Knits in Portland, OR. Those are the projects this week. MK out.
Did I show y'all the yarn I bought at DFW Fiber Fest? No? Well then:
I bought a few skeins of Madelinetosh DK Twist to make a sweater to wear at STARS games.
I also bought a few skeins of Books Farm Yarns Four Play to make another sweater I've been wanting to make for a while. Aaaannnddd...yesterday, I won some yarn!!!! I've been reading The Knitting Doctor's blog for several years. I think of her as a friend. She recently celebrated her 10 Year Blogiversary and had a contest. Happy Blogiversary to her and happy yarn day to me! Thanks again, Lorette. MK out.
